Dr. Becker is a Naturopathic Doctor who returned to his home Jamaica, dedicated to healing the emotional and physical challenges faced by those in his beloved homeland. He returned empowered with knowledge gleaned from institutions in North America and Europe including Boston University, the University of Wisconsin, University of London, the International Institute of Chinese Medicine, Bastyr University and others. This academic training was coupled with Ethnobotanical field research from his extensive world travels, exploring the peoples and healing practices of the world – from Asia to Europe, Central America and Africa.
Dr. Becker’s love of the nature engaged him in extreme sports including cave diving and mountaineering, resulting in periodic injuries including severe spinal trauma. These injuries led him to a lifetime of mainstream treatment which was largely ineffective as it is focused on managing symptoms instead of effecting healing. This awareness led him to Complementary and Alternative Medicine. His professional life was guided by his own needs, leading him to specialize in Acupuncture, Clinical Psychology, Spinal and Joint Alignment, Physical Therapy and Herbal Medicine. He realized over time that true healing is born of a multidisciplinary approach in which all modalities are meaningfully integrated.
After returning to Jamaica, Dr. Becker integrated traditional Oriental, Ayurvedic, African and Central American formulas with Jamaican Equatorial herbs which are significantly more potent in part due to the vastly greater biodiversity of tropical environments resulting in a greater variety of significantly more potent compounds.
Dr. Becker uses Jamaican organic and wild-crafted herbs and plants to curate formulae under the brands Doctor Bird Herbals (herbal ingredients), CannaMed (cannabis ingredients) and Jamaican Herbalist (Hemp/CBD ingredients).
